Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that following meetings with China’s Minister of Transport Liu Wei, a direct communication mechanism will be established to develop transportation and trade between the two countries.
The Role of Türkiye and China in Global Corridors
Uraloğlu evaluated cooperation opportunities especially in Middle Corridor transportation, trade, and production during his visit to China. Participating in the 9th Silk Road International Forum held in Xi’an, he discussed regional logistics and transportation projects with officials from Shaanxi Province.
Türkiye as a Logistics Hub
On the second day of the program, Uraloğlu met with two Chinese technology companies and held talks to establish Türkiye as a logistics distribution center. Agreements were also reached on establishing R&D centers and technology production in Türkiye.
Cooperation Covering Four Modes of Transport
Uraloğlu and Liu Wei discussed cooperation opportunities in road, rail, air, and maritime transport. Priority agenda items included resolving customs issues in road transport and increasing block train operations with the private sector in rail transport.
Problems Will Be Solved Quickly Through Direct Communication
Both sides appointed representatives to provide direct communication for faster and more effective resolution of arising problems. Uraloğlu stated, “The communication mechanism will accelerate transport cooperation between Türkiye and China.”
